FAQ's

We cure every candle for a minimum of seven days before it leaves our workshop. Curing gives the fragrance oil time to fully bind with the soy wax, which is what produces a stronger, more even scent throw once you light it.

Yes — our fragrance tester set lets you try the complete range in 5ml sample vessels, made from the same soy wax and fragrance oils as our full-size candles, so what you smell is exactly what you’ll burn.

All of our fragrance oils are vegan and cruelty-free, and formulated without silicone or parabens.

Soy wax is a natural, renewable alternative to paraffin, and burns with less soot for a cleaner scent throw. Independent research from Iowa State University has found that soy wax burns cleaner than traditional paraffin, without the black smoke and soot that petroleum-based waxes can produce.

Top notes are what you smell first — light and immediate. Middle notes emerge as the candle burns and form the heart of the fragrance. Base notes are the deepest, longest-lasting layer, and what lingers in the room after the candle is out.

The natural oils and minerals in our fragrances can slightly change the colour of the soy wax. This is a normal part of the scent and doesn’t affect burn quality.

Every candle is hand-poured locally in North Brisbane by one of our own directors, so quality is checked personally in every batch rather than outsourced. We use vegan, cruelty-free soy wax fragrance oils, cure every candle for a minimum of seven days for a true scent throw, and house many of our fragrances in natural stone vessels — a direct reflection of Stone Design & Co’s own background in stone and natural materials.

To help prevent candle tunnelling, allow the wax to melt evenly to the edges of the glass insert each time you burn your candle — especially during the first burn. This helps prevent a “memory ring” from forming around the wick and encourages an even, consistent burn throughout the life of the candle.

Before each use, trim the wick to approximately 5mm and keep it centred. We also recommend burning your Stone Design & Co candle away from drafts and for no longer than four hours at a time.

Proper candle care not only helps prevent tunnelling, but also allows you to enjoy the best possible fragrance throw and burn time from your scented candle.

A Stone Design & Co natural stone candle has an approximate burn time of 30 hours when cared for correctly.

Our candles are hand-poured in Australia using a premium soy and coconut wax blend, selected to provide a balanced fragrance throw and slow, even burn.

Once your candle is finished, there is no need to replace your stone vessel. Simply remove the used glass insert and replace it with one of our scented candle refills, allowing you to enjoy your favourite vessel again and again.

Unlike a traditional glass candle that is usually discarded once the wax has finished, a Stone Design & Co candle is designed around a refillable stone vessel that can be kept and enjoyed for years.

You purchase your handcrafted natural stone vessel once. Inside sits a removable glass candle insert filled with our premium soy and coconut wax blend and your chosen fragrance.

Once the candle has finished burning, simply remove the glass insert and replace it with a new candle refill. You can continue with your favourite fragrance or change scents whenever the mood, season or room calls for something different.

This also means you can keep several fragrances at home and swap them in and out of the same stone candle vessel rather than purchasing an entirely new candle each time.
